Meet the Doctor

Michael L. Green Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Michael L. Green Jr. is a native of Indianapolis, IN where early in life he became interested in medicine through various youth organizations. Dr. Green attended the Benjamin Banneker Honors College at Prairie View
A & M University and went to medical school at the Indiana University College of Medicine.

Because of his passion for surgical pathology, he completed his residency at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Peoria. During his five year training program, he developed an interest in surgical treatment for morbid obesity. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Providence Hospital – Howard University. He serves as Bariatric Medical Director at three Texas Hospitals and is currently based in Fort Worth.

Dr. Green offers the gold standard of surgical weight reduction in a minimally invasive approach.

Dr. Green continues to strive for excellence in this field. He has trained residents and senior surgeons in minimally invasive surgery. He has also served as a preceptor for other surgeons who are the beginning in the field of Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Green is the medical director for Bariatric Surgery at Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth, Kindred Hospital on Fort Worth, and Renaissance Hospital in Dallas. He is board certified and is affiliated with several professional organizations. These include American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, Texas Association of Batiatric Surgeons, International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity, National Medical Association, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and Society of Black Academic Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the Americal College of Surgeons.

In addition to bariatric surgery, Dr. Green also performs various advanced laparoscopic procedures. Some of these include laparoscopic splenectomy, colon and small bowel resections, adrenalectomy, and treatment of gastric and peptic ulcers.
